Original vintage poster Hiroshige - 25.59 by 16.14 inches

Original Exhibition Poster - Hiroshige - 1955

Published in 1955 for the Huguette Berès gallery in Paris, this poster pays tribute to the undisputed master of Japanese printmaking: Utagawa Hiroshige, a key figure of the ukiyo-e movement during the Edo period. It was created for a landmark exhibition devoted to his work and printed by Mourlot, the renowned Parisian lithography studio.

The composition reproduces a famous view from the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, where stylized nature and architectural elements converse with poetic elegance. In the foreground, blossoming cherry branches frame a tranquil scene: a lake, strolling figures, sailing boats, all watched over by a distant mountain. Hiroshige’s aesthetic - defined by bold color fields and subtle rhythms - unfolds here with contemplative power and refined structure.

This original lithograph, linen-backed and measuring approximately 25.6 x 16.1 inches, is preserved in A+ condition. A graceful encounter between traditional printmaking and mid-century Parisian artistic publishing.
