This lithographically printed poster was produced by the Monaco printing house in Monte Carlo in 1952 and signed by Bernard Minne. It advertises the Monaco Grand Prix, which took place in early June 1952.
In a clean, graphic style typical of the 1950s, artist Bernard Minne depicts a bright red Ferrari 225S leading two other racing cars along a seaside road. Speed is suggested through blue lines on the roadway and additional yellow lines trailing behind the car at the head of the race.
Although the 1952 race was won by the Italian driver Vittorio Marzotto, the driver shown on the poster at the wheel of the red Ferrari is a Frenchman, Pierre Boncompagni, known as “Pagnibon.”
This very rare poster is difficult to find in good condition. It is linen-backed and measures 46.06 by 30.9 inches.
